The ASSOCIATION OF KNITWEAR DESIGNERS (AKD) is dedicated to the promotion and accreditation of its professional members. AKD seeks to be the leading source of qualified professionals in all fields of the knitwear design industry and to provide appropriate member support to assist its members in remaining qualified and up-to-date according to industry needs.

We've also provided Accreditations listings to assist you in finding an AKD member in a particular category of expertise.

We invite prospective members to learn more about the benefits of AKD and the procedures to apply for membership in the Member Benefits area of our website.

AKD was founded by Professionals to improve communications among all levels of the knitting industry, and new members are encouraged to join the organization. We have recently re-vamped the application process, and you can now download the application. You can get an idea of what items jurors will be examining by looking over the generalaccreditation and tech-edit rubrics. These are the "score sheets" that the jurors fill out when assessing an application.
